My 6 year old hates her hair being brushed out because it gets really tangled. We tried this brush as a recommendation from her hairdresser and now she will o my use this brush! It can be a bit hard to hold and does a fairly good job of getting all the tangles out. If it’s really tangled, I will often have to use a “normal” brush to remove them.It does the job with the right products.UPDATED Review:When i received this brush in the mail, I tried using it like a regular brush, expecting it to pull through the tangles right away. I tried it a couple times, and then chucked it in a drawer when it didn't seem to product any results. About 6 months later, my husband saw me struggling to brush our little girl's wet, curly hair and asked why i wasn't using the knot genie? He pulled it out and showed me that if you continuously, yet softly, keep brushing down the hair, the knots eventually work themselves to the bottom and out. It makes an odd noise, as if the bristles are just brushing past the hair, but somehow miraculously it works. It DOES take a little longer than it would to brush with a regular brush, but since the crying fits are non-existent anymore the entire start-to-finish event is probably still the same amount of time. This brush should come with instructions - maybe it did and i tossed them out figuring i didn't need hairbrush instructions? it's been a while since i ordered it. Anyway, give this brush a try, and just be patient until you get the technique down. I feel so guilty that I gave a bad review without understanding the concept of the brush! And also, Kudos to husband for figuring it out.Orginial Review:I almost feel like the other reviews were written by people who sell the product. Unfortunately, this brush did little to nothing to ease post-bath brushings of my toddler's curly mop. She was excited about the color, size, and name of this brush when it arrived in the mail- especially after I assured her it would make the brushing experience much more tolerable. It doesn't pull through very well, and it just doesn't seem to be any better than any other inexpensive brush I've tried on her in the past - and I feel like I have tried them all. This will go in the drawer of unsuccessful purchases, along with the other 4 brushes, and I will continue my search! I gave it 2 stars rather than 1 because it is cute, therefore somewhat more appealing to a toddler than a regular brush.After several attempts at getting the right product (the first one arrived damaged and the second one was the wrong size, we finally got the perfect little hair detangling brush :) I have been shopping around, you cannot get a better price than on Amazon - even on the deal websites, with shipping it always end ups being more expensive ! Thanks Amazon for your great customer service and great low prices !About the brush, we got the Teeny Genie. In my opinion, the real size is way too big, even for my hands (I do have small hands).The brush is made out of plastic and has 2 different length for the bristles which prevents the hair from being damaged and most important of all, it detangles it like a charm ! It does make a loud noise, but don't be scared, your child will loove it !At first, I must say that I was dubious about it and it does looked flimsy (that was my first impression of the first brush I received). But since I had tried it and my daughter was not complaining about having her hair brushed, I just went ahead and reordered another one. Now, she is a happy 3 year old, not running away from me when I need to brush her hair. She even wants to do it herself !!!! She has very fine hair with a lot of knots ! I had forgotten it at the swimming pool last week-end and she clearly stated that she wanted the teeny genie and no other brushes. I have been using it on her brother too. He has very vurly hair, and it works :)Try it, you won't be disappointed ! I would highly recommend it for any kinds of hair and get a second one for your purse... that way, wherever you go, you will have one :)This product works great...definitely decreased the time it takes to detangle my hair. Loved it so much that I bought one for my nieces.I love this brush!! I bought two one for each of my daughters. Both my daughters have very different textures of hair and so this brush caters too both. My oldest daughter has fine long wavy hair and so with a regular brush it left her hair poufy, and just in a mess. Since using the Knot Genie her hair is smoother, her hair is wavier than ever and it has VOLUME. My younger daughter has sensitivity issues with me brushing her hair. Her is short thick with tight curls. It use to take me about 45 minutes to comb out all her knots. Literally picking through every strand of hair to separate and comb out. It came to the point where I stopped combing her hair period. She's crying her eyes out and I'm getting frustrated. Even with distractions like giving her a favorable toy or putting on her favorite show became a challenge. Thank You for this brush. I had a therapist referred me to this brush and it helped. I take no longer than 2 minutes or even less or brush out her hair eliminating those knots and leaving her hair with VOLUME, easy soft curls. And it last, meaning I wont have to brush her hair for like two days and there are still no knots. Yes its a little hard at first b/c there is no handle and may hurt b/c its taking the knots out.
